Categories of Data Processed
During navigation on the website and use of the platform, the following categories of data provided directly by the user may be processed:

• Technical navigation data (e.g., IP address, browser used, device, date and time of access);
• Data voluntarily provided by the user through the platform functionalities;
• Technical parameters entered by users into the simulation tools made available within the project.
The technical parameters entered by users in the simulation tools are exclusively technical in nature and are not used to identify natural people.
The provision of data required for the use of the platform is mandatory; without such data it may not be possible to provide the service or grant access to the available functionalities. Where consent is requested, consent is always optional and may be revoked at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent previously given.
Purpose of Processing
The data are processed exclusively for the following purposes:
• enabling navigation and access to the platform;
• allowing the use of the simulation and demonstration tools developed within the project;
• managing user accounts;
• providing information about the activities and results of the project;
• responding to contact requests or information requests;
• producing aggregated statistics on platform usage;
• fulfilling legal obligations.
Use of Data in Simulations
Technical data entered by users in simulations are used exclusively to generate the requested results and for demonstration purposes related to research applications.
Such data is not used to identify users nor for profiling activities.
Legal Basis for Processing
The processing of personal data is based on:
• the performance of a service requested by the user (use of the platform and simulations);
• the legitimate interest of the Data Controller in ensuring the proper functioning of the website;
• where applicable, and in particular for cookies and optional services, the consent of the user.
Data Retention
Personal data are processed using IT tools and retained for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected, and thereafter for the period required to comply with applicable legal obligations.
Recipients of the Data
Personal data may be processed by authorized personnel of the Data Controller.
In addition, the data may be communicated to IT and technical service providers responsible for the management and maintenance of the website, who act as Data Processors.
Data may also be disclosed to:
• public authorities, where required by applicable law;
• project partners involved in the BIO4EEB project.
Personal data is not subject to public disclosure.
